#RPG musing: A pulp RPG rule, allowing the first bullet wound a PC takes to be a shoulder injury, few actual effects aside from making the character wince and clutch the affected part for a brief while. Came to mind when I was thinking about the one real problem with "Mercenaries, Spies & Private Eyes," namely that the first bullet wound is very often also the last.

@BigJackBrass I like the flavor that brings. Very action-hero-y
@QHudspeth It may well lead to frequent comedy, with the party constantly sporting fresh shoulder injuries, but that's honestly not far from my usual games anyway.
@BigJackBrass @QHudspeth you could mix it up with buttock shots or arrows to the knee.
@QHudspeth Many years ago a game of Chivalry & Sorcery entered similar territory when practically every hit in a skirmish with goblins resulted in a groin injury. Tricky to maintain any sense of drama under such circumstances 😁

Our GM had a rule where he'd give you a bonus to dice rolls when what you tried to do was very in character; or it was cinematically spectacular.

If you tried to do something that would look just right in a Michael Bay movie or a Bollywood action film you almost couldn't fail. Made for some very entertaining gaming sessions.
