Electric cars, carbon capture, planting trees; all these climate actions feel like fighting a wildfire while an arsonist is setting more fires.

Don't get me wrong - we *need* people fighting the fires (even if some of them are more effective than others).

But more urgently, someone needs to stop the arsonist.

Feel free to add to my list of fossil fuel shills...

@Npars01 @RhinosWorryMe yes! I have been reading The Petroleum Papers by Geoff Dembicki.

I would add Fox News to this list.

Rupert Murdoch Has Known We’ve Been in a Climate Emergency Since 2006, Documents Show

Murdoch’s News Corp has spent the past 15 years mitigating its own climate risk while giving media outlets like Fox News carte blanche to deny climate change altogether.

@DanaSiler @Npars01 @RhinosWorryMe

Jules Verne has a sequel for /From The Earth To The Moon/ where an American company quietly buys all (presumed) land around the North Pole, and then proceeds to build a huge cannon whose recoil would shift the axis of the Earth -- so that their land would end at a temperate latitude, and they can then mine the coal expected to be there.

@Npars01 @RhinosWorryMe I am starting to come to the view that climate change is being inflicted on us by the oil companies and their allied media companies. If it were not for the denial and misinformation these companies have perpetrated, we could be a lot further along the path to decarbonization.
@RhinosWorryMe But instead the USA seems about to give the arsonists free range by electing a president who could quite literatly destroy the world as we know it ,hes admitted he will "drill,drill,drill" that he will withdraw from climate agreements ,most likely damage alaska and has also said he will leave Putin to have free range in Europe and will effectively hand over ukraine to him giving putin control over large nuclear power stations that would make the Chernobyl disaster small scale
