Using Vision Pro right now typing this. Ask me anything.
@asymco How many fingers am I holding up?
@asymco can you ever *really* be sure you’ve taken it off?
@jimray Yes though it can be jarring.
@asymco do you feel like you are having a VR experience of something different?
@gstratford It’s not like anything else. I am using it as a computer mainly but the interface is as different as windows was to command line.

@asymco How lonely is it to use?

MKBHD on Youtube said there really aren't any socializing apps or interactive apps for groups outside of FaceTime.

@mastobit Every iPad app is available as is any web site. I’m using Mastodon in a browser as I write this. The notion that there are no apps is absurd. Customized experiences will emerge that will be unlike any of the 2D apps in use now but those will be discovered and invented not copied from 2D.
@asymco woven loop or dual strap?
@driy Dual for me.
@asymco it’s the new spaces versus tabs :-) by the way, Ice Cubes app offers reasonable native experience for mastodon
@asymco any benefits to using mastodon in a browser instead of an app like @IceCubesApp ?
@jerome @IceCubesApp No. I’m just used to Ivory on phones and browser on Mac.
@asymco How does the Mac virtual display compare to an iMac or Studio Display? Do you feel increased eye strain or fatigue compared to an actual display over time?
@OldManJade It’s not as sharp as an iMac but it’s much bigger. (Your experience might vary as the optics depend on your eyesight) The experience involves moving your head more and it’s more immersive. No fatigue at all. I could do this for 16 hours in a row. I think the sharpness can only improve.

@asymco

What would make you take it off? What would make you return it (if engaging it wasn’t your job)?

@gebloom Three things: sleeping, going to the bathroom and showering. Driving or cycling are not recommended but might eventually be supported. I would not return it unless it was broken.

@asymco

The virtual bathroom upgrade is a must.

@asymco What cognitive habits do you miss while using? Do you see them easily replaced with VP experience?
@gebloom Using a Mac is still better for some tasks but the screen is compelling so I don't mind using it as a display. The gestures of pinching and moving the arm are less efficient than a touchpad. Typing needs a keyboard for speed. These are based on habits or muscle memories.
@gebloom I don’t know about cognitive habits but the UI is less precise than using a cursor on a Mac. This is mitigated if using an actual Mac and the extended display or using a touchpad and keyboard.
@asymco I know FOV varies due to light seals but do you notice restricted FOV often, say when viewing large screen media?
@jamckay I am always aware of the limitations in field of view. I got used to it and tolerate it. For me the artifacts of compression or resolution are far more annoying in immersive video. My ability to suspend disbelief is very poor in general.
@asymco How is the voice dictation vs. manual typing?
@rogerschutte Excellent so far. Surprised actually.
@asymco do you think AirDrop and FindMy will come with an update?
Do you think the exterior display helps for anything?
@hhf yes, naturally. I have not interacted with others to test external display.
@asymco Do you think Vision Pro be key part of autonomous system ?
@mumchi For cars? It makes more sense as a helmet.
