acastcandreamI really do not like making generalization based on nationality, ethnicity, etc. But Japanese companies are absolutely hobbled by how top down and fearful they are of anything they don’t have 100% control and grasp of. Nintendo won’t even release the soundtracks to 95% of their games unless it’s on CD.
Sony and Microsoft would have be 90% cross-platform for at least a decade before Nintendo catches up. I mean look at the state of their online play and the Nintendo store. Once they’ve made up their mind, they are incredibly obstinate.
Isn’t Sony Japanese
Sony’s camera division often behaves very similarly, as does Canon. Very top down, often seemingly hostile to users.
