handmade ghostBlack phoebes are among my very favorite birds (really, I have such a soft spot for flycatchers all around). It's been a while since I've seen one, so spotting this friend and watching em sally amongst a trio of trees at the edge of the marsh made my whole weekend.
jendefer@handmade_ghost Flycatchers are so awesome. It always brings me great joy to see the Vermillion Flycatchers that hang our around my neighborhood. Black Phoebes are a rare treat.
@jendefer I've never seen a vermilion flycatcher (outside of the Internet)! If you have a photo, I'd love to see it. They are all just so winning--I love watching them at their antic flights.
@handmade_ghost Vermillion Flycatchers are tricky to get a good shot of (for me). By the time I'm ready, they're off looking for the next snack. These are the best shots I've managed.

She seems to like this wall and also a nice perch atop one of my dead sunflower stems. @jendefer Ohmygoodness these are wonderful (and with such great descriptions)! Flycatchers are so tricky. I've only ever managed one in flight (clearly) once. They are so fast and purposeful. That vermilion coloring is so fantastic. 😍 Thank you!!
