@jeffowski

There's a part of me that wishes u had the money to travel the world, going to music festivals and catching the sites ....but I really live my pets, so , I don't know how that would work even if I could do it.
@jeffowski To be fair, the eggs we eat aren't fertilized, so the distinction isn't quite so incongruous. Pretty sure balut would be off the menu on Fridays, but not the scrambled or over easy. 😉

@kung_fu_emu @jeffowski

“About 15% of the freshly laid unfertilized eggs of Barred Plymouth Rock and White Leghorn hens exhibit embryonic development, but this development ceases when the eggs are incubated. “

@jeffowski I know this is a joke, but to be fair:
The eggs we eat are not chicken, even in the bogus definition of the catholic church.

They are basically periods, so unfertilized eggs. If you tried to hatch your breakfast egg, you'd just end up with a smelly egg.

So their logic does not fall apart here.

It does however fall apart when they think forcing someone to carry out a child when they unwillingly got pregnant is the moral thing to do.

@betalars @jeffowski

“About 15% of the freshly laid unfertilized eggs of Barred Plymouth Rock and White Leghorn hens exhibit embryonic development, but this development ceases when the eggs are incubated.”

@jonhendry Today I learned.
But I still think that does not disprove my smelly egg statement?

@betalars

No, but one should remember that it’s always more complicated than you think.

@jonhendry I need to design a sticker with this ... something something every subject is as rabbit hole.
@jeffowski Wait 'til they find out about beaver tails.
@wcbdata @jeffowski There is a passage in Laxdaela Saga where Kjartan Olafsson does a "dry fast" for Lent (no meat, but veg, nuts, fish and *whale* are ok)...
@jeffowski eggs you can buy in a supermarket are almost never fertilized
@jeffowski actually that would be consistent ... because until the 1800s the Catholic Church was in favour of abortion
@jeffowski I know this is super pedantic, but the eggs we eat usually aren't fertilized.
