OK... *now* it's a race!

* We've got the first data suggesting a next generation Covid vaccine could outperform the Pfizer vax – it's authorized in one country & manufacture is ramping up.

* The number of nextgen vaxes reaching mid-stage trials (phase 2) is now in double digits.

* We've been hearing results of 2 clinical trials a month for the last 6 months.

@hildabast @PLOS I know none of this moves on a schedule, but given how these typically move, do you think we could see published efficacy results on any of these in 2024?

@FiveByFive @PLOS There already are results for the one authorized in Japan - if it goes to plan, there would be an evaluation from Europe (& perhaps Australia) this year. Some others could be coming this year - for most, 2025 is more likely.
