Accurate.
@MxAlba if they were smart they would design the box to be part of the product build.
@MxAlba turns out picture A is also often: "what the person making the purchasing decision thinks their employees need." :P
@MxAlba @darac I'm thinking of the swing at the same time.
@MxAlba But the user requirements specify 10 of of the left within the same space, and the sales team sold an Escher building.
@MxAlba Me spending hours trying to find an app that just does this 1 specific thing, only to find a bunch of apps with an absurd number of features that are never what i actually needed.

@MxAlba but what does the *buyer* want and how can we get them into a subscription service? πŸ˜‰
@MxAlba Before subscription models software companies had to do this to justify their existence.
@MxAlba this is me with laptops.
@MxAlba Yes! Exactly how I feel about Windows. I would love it if had a list of the parts I want, and pay for just those (and add-on later if needed).
@MxAlba What I like best is that you can't make much money with cardboard boxes while you certainly can with extravagant cat trees. Products are not designed after the user's needs, but after what sells best.
@MxAlba But then one user will want a bigger or smaller box, or one with higher or lower sides, or a step for the cat to get in and out of the box, and so on. There's a famous Steve Jobs quote, when he was just back at Apple and axing a bunch of projects: "focusing is about saying no". It's easy to find the video, and that whole WWDC Q&A is worth watching.
@dan131riley @MxAlba Yes. My thought was "this is so analagous to so many things, but as soon as there's more than one user, it all changes."
@MxAlba Or could be labeled "what the client representative thinks the user needs" and "what the user needs."
@MxAlba "Your understanding of my needs is pathetic"
@ikari reality is always more complicated than a meme... 😁

@MxAlba Awwww.

none of my cats cuddle with each other. Are these siblings?

@ikari nope, they're one year apart and not related at all.
@MxAlba The features have clearly been designed with the human gaze in mind, and don't consider the cat's privacy needs. β€‹

If only it was that easy...
