Yet so many people don't have a problem with the police encrypting their communications, having unreported surveillance and tracking of citizens without any oversight.
Or whatever "oversight" there is tend to be employees of the state which have a vested interest in protecting the monopoly on violence.

I watched two people I grew up with get murdered by the county because the cops played soldier with miltech. why? because their grandson was RUMORED to have threatened a kid at school with a gun.

@GreenKnight23 @eff @reasonmagazine I understand where you are coming from, and I probably didn't make it clear, I do support their right to privacy. However, there is jack shit all I can do outside of supporting the eff and bringing attention to the topic. This is sanfran after all.
That is a sad story, and I'm sorry to hear about it, but sheriffs getting hand-me-downs from the military (bear cats and the like) aren't exactly the same as city wide surveillance infrastructure and logistics.
