A photo taken one evening at #Dijon 🇫🇷 in August 2019: an #SNCF #BB22200 dual-voltage electric and a rake of #Corail carriages forming a #TER regional train. 40 years earlier these “Nez cassé” locos and Corail cars could be seen on the country’s most prestigious #Rapide services.
@andreaswiedenhoff It’s not just me, this pantograph arrangement is weird, right?
@partim All BB22200 have it this way. On a BB7200 it's standard (hinges both towards the centre). A BB15000 has only 1 pantograph. I presume the dual voltage equipment on the roof necessitates this for some reason. No other French dual voltage locomotives have it this way though. @andreaswiedenhoff
@jon @partim if I remember well, the CC21000s (a sort of dual-voltage or rather bi-system version of the CC6500s) also had the AC pantograph oriented like the one on the BB22200, yet they had three pantos altogether, I believe: two for DC and one for AC. CC21000s are longer than the 15000/7200/222200 locos, so there was enough space for a third pantograph.
