I think about the concept of something being "bee shape" and how this is a positive attribute if you are a bee almost every day.

Seiran Sumner in her book "endless forms - the secret world of wasps" says that while the material bees use kinda help to fall in the right shape, wasps using paper certainly have to plan ahead to make the right shape (since paper/wood pulp is more rigid).

@futurebird the funny thing is that if you look closely, a hive's comb is circular. The heat and deformation of bees walking deforms it to a hexagon.

@futurebird I'm sorry to inform you that the bees actually make circles, not hexagons. Expansion of the cells then causes them to become hexagons. Bees don't know what a hexagon is. ​
