I thought it was crazy 20-30% increase of appreciation of housing cost depending on the state of things.. values wise? Silly me. π
And the right wing politicians enabled by the tycoons try to manipulate you into thinking the refugees are to blame.
It has been done before in the 1930s and we know where that went.
@AnarchistArt It's the 'minority' among refugees or those that don't 'behave' as good guests that make the general public of the host country fear them. Politicians and 'some' elements use that.
Before someone comes at me, I know it too well - Mizoram to continue helping displaced Chins from Myanmar. We have maybe ONE murder case in five years. Last year alone we had 5 murder cases - not domestic but robbery or car jacking. All committed by Burmese refugees. And then there's the drug smuggling problem.
In my native village alone, rents have shot to βΉ10k plus when people would be shocked at a βΉ4k rent two or three years ago. No, it's not like the economy is booming. Many of the Burmese refugees receive funds from their fellow Burmese from foreign countries or from smuggling (meth and heroin). They'll go to the house owner (landlord) with a wad a cash and offer 2-3 times the normal rate. Who would refuse? And why wouldn't locals hate that?
Once more for the kids at the back: populists & wealth-hoarders scapegoat minorities β refugees, trans kids, etc. β for at least 2 reasons.
1. Stirring mainstream bigotry distracts from their own sins. It obscures their vested interest in perpetuating actual problems (housing, unemployment, etc.).
2. The underdogs are typically small in number and lack political power/clout. As such, they have limited resources to use in their defence & are safe targets for bullies.
that isn't the proper way to ALT something.
Remember, there are antifascist and anti land baron disabled folks out there, too.
I would suggest
a poster showing the cartoon character from the Fallout series kicking Mr. Moneybags from Monopoly in the butt. in the lower right corner is an anarchy flag.
text says
Refugees didn't take away affordable housing.
Rich landlords and greedy politicians did.
@AnarchistArt #ImageDescription doesn't describe the actual image...
@AnarchistArt
It is an investment today.
Many bought-for Profit is ridiculous and is going to get worse. π₯Ί
