The truth is out there ๐Ÿ‘ฝ

@georgetakei
Well, it would still need to fly in order to be an uFo.

Also, wondering if a reflection could qualify as object.

@janneke

Very fair question.

That's why "UFO" is no longer officially used and "UAP" is used instead.

(unidentified anomalous phenomena)

@georgetakei

What are UAPs, and why do UFOs have a new name?

A former intelligence officer-turned-whistleblower and two pilots testified before Congress about the strange, seemingly inexplicable objects.

Anything can be flying if you don't know what that means.

@georgetakei

UFO != extraterrestrial space ships.

UFO === Unidentified Flying Object.

Unidentified.

@georgetakei this is a joke several captains Iโ€™ve flown with have done. Anytime they see other air traffic but itโ€™s too far away to see airplane type or operator, theyโ€™ll point and say โ€œUFOโ€
@georgetakei I mean ufo just means Idk what that was but it's flying

@georgetakei

Wrong, it has to also be flying. Otherwise it is just a UO :)

That reminds me of a scene on the TV show Monk where Monk was in Rosewell, New Mexico and he was telling the Sheriff that he saw something strange.

Paraphrased:

Sheriff: So you saw a UFO?
Monk: No, no, I am not saying I saw a UFO.
Sheriff: Was it an object?
Monk: Yes... yes, it definitely was an object.
Sheriff: Was it flying?
Monk: Well, yes, it was flying.
Sheriff: Could you identify it?
Monk: No, no, I could not identify it.
Sheriff: Well then, you saw a UFO.
@georgetakei Not anything at all, just anything flying.

@georgetakei
1. As soon as you recognize something as an UFO, it becomes FO.
2. As soon as it lands, it becomes just O.

Just saying...

@georgetakei I wish I'd seen this when I fist started going on bird walks. If it wasn't a robin, pigeon, gull, or duck, I couldn't identify it.

Even one of our local naturalist guides sometimes calls a bird an "LBB"--little brown bird.
