Last summer I did my first iron butt on an F850GS #motorcycle and as I am getting round to writing about all of my summer rides for the local newspaper I started there. Just released, the ride to Croatia from Frankfurt. https://thereview.ca/2024/02/07/buns-of-steel-part-two/ which will eventually be paywalled but I’ll be putting a copy on my (new and coming soon!) blog too. Blog, cos I like to write… #writing #ironbutt #motorcycles
Buns of Steel, part two

Off to Germany I went. This involved arguing with CATSA people in Montréal because I had a small CO2 gas canister. It kind of went like this: “You can’t bring that on board.” “Yes, I can, it’s safety equipment. Look, it’s attached to my airbag. As long as it’s connected, it’s okay to bring on.”…

@spm Awesome bud, I'd love to do an iron butt, sadly it would take me 2.5 hours to do about the first 50 miles from my current location. It makes a 1000 a total pain.
@Valheru @spm that is a bit of an issue! And a long way for a short cut ;-) I was lucky enough to be close to highways (not my preferred travel mode but for this, almost a necessity!) - I have since done another on my Himmy which took much longer (the Himmy is great but not fast!) and went from Alberta all the way through to Ontario. That was a trek!
@spm Even our main road here is probably what most countries would call a backroad, and you've seen what our Backroads are like!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Valheru @spm when I first came over to the UK with my (Canadian) wife she was totally terrified that people could drive faster than around 30 on those roads!

@spm I can imagine!!! Tbf we get similar with the sports bike & adv riders when they come through, you can always tell they've bottled it when the brakes hit on about 45-50....

Where I live you can often hear them on the long straights: braaaaarrrrrrrrrp, brrr bbrrr brr (through bends) braaaaaaaaaaarp.
