There should be GPS but just for NTP. I don’t want any of my appliances to have internet access, but I wish they had the right time all the time. The only internet of things I want is the NTP of things.
@paulca there is!

@kommen @janl — Someone needs to tell the folks at AEG to put this in their ovens 🤣
@paulca @kommen would a small computer opening a WiFi just for the appliance work if it served NTP? That would not be super hard to set up.
@janl @kommen — I mean, if I had a smart appliance, I would probably just run it with the defaults and let my home firewall do what it does. I do not have a smart appliance, so I’m stuck with manual time setting when it inevitably drifts. The worst is that I have two ovens and they’re both off by a few seconds so not always quite in sync.
@paulca two ovens #humblebrag 😂
@james — four if you count the microwave and the new air fryer 🤣
@paulca @kommen oh sorry, I misread the situation!

@kommen @janl @paulca There is a similar transmitter in the UK. I remember being very impressed by a clock radio I had in the late 80’s (ish) that was “atomic”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_from_NPL_(MSF)

Having to manually adjust clocks in 2024 feels like a slap in the face. I continue to get slapped and will do for a while yet I predict.

@paulca so you’re saying you’re down with N-T-P?
