This week’s mahi has been wading through schedules; (dubiously) sourcing scripts and librettos for the next five months for pre-production; and hunting down videos of shows we’re doing for research watches

I’ve watched the show I’m super excited for. Which isn’t til like June.

So now obvs I’m watching other shows I like rather than the shows I should be watching for work 😂

#TheatreTechsLove #Preprodution #MusicalTheatre #MahiToi

I’m not going to yuck anyone’s yum

However
I’m definitely watching SpongeBob the Musical currently rather than the Lloyd-Webber’s on my list

I feel like it’s an under-rated musical.
And also. I still want to either lighting design or foley the shit outta this show so bad. SO BAD.

What are other folk’s favourite underrated #musicals?

The dubious written materials sourcing is purely because we often don’t get our scripts or librettos until after rehearsals have started, and sometimes not until we literally show up for the pre-pack in meeting a week from opening.

I’m hoping by sourcing them now I can thump through scene and character breakdowns while I’ve got time - which will then let us figure out rough equipment allocations, see where we might need to hire gear externally, and help the designers draft their cue sheets
