Our daughter’s name is India Delilah O’Hanlon. An Australian-American by birth, she has lived and worked in San Diego for the past two years. She is 25 years old. Eleven days ago, she disappeared, leaving behind her clothes, make-up, computer, and even her social security card and credit cards. We were probably the last to see her, on 16 January, via a video call. She distracted, high, agitated by the arrival of an unseen male.

The call ended abruptly. She has not been seen since by family, friends, or work colleagues.

A missing person’s report was filed on Thursday last week with San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Her case no. there is 24500153. The telephone no. of their Missing Persons Unit is +1 619 531 2277.

The San Diego Sheriff’s detective that took the report was dismissive of our concerns, suggesting she probably "went on a road trip without telling anyone".

But we have — and had — ample indications that this is far from the case and that she may be i) mentally distressed and ii) deliberately cut off from outside communications by someone who is a known dealer, with gang connections. We believe she is still in San Diego.

We have tried to provide further information to the Missing Persons Unit but no-one will return our calls. We have had no updates since we first filed our report.

My wife and I are distraught. With no communication from the San Diego Sheriff's unit and no assistance from the Australian consulate in Southern California, we — and our daughter — desperately need support from other communities to press the urgency of our daughter's situation on all authorities.

Her life depends on it.

@ccohanlon I’m so sorry, I can only too well imagine how worried you must be. It’s so hard to know how to find help when the authorities don’t respond as they should. In this you’re not alone. For what it’s worth this stranger sends love and good wishes.
@ccohanlon Cannot begin to imagine the anxiety you both must be going through. Dearly hope she's OK.
@ccohanlon cops aren't going to help with this. They have better things to do...nothing.

@ccohanlon Horrific, I can't image you and your family are going through at the moment. I hope she turns up soon and in good health.

@ccohanlon the paper of record here is the San Diego Union-Tribune, but there’s independent newspapers including Voice of San Diego, iNewsource and Axios San Diego (new, but made up of former UT staff) even if they can’t run your story they may have had similar calls and have resources to point you to

ETA the San Diego County Board of Supervisors may have constituent services with resources too https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/general/bos.html

@ccohanlon that must be a total nightmare... massive hugs, cc x
