@hotdogsladies I’m not into that kind of stuff that much, so I don’t know about the competition, but for what I need Siri works well. Getting directions, playing music, calling people, and saving reminders all work great.
The only problem is when I want to dictate in a mix of English and Italian. 99% of the time it doesn’t work.
@hotdogsladies you’re right - sometimes it’s super capable. Other times it’s:
Me: Siri - play The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
Siri: There is no lamb found on Broadway in Oakland.
Me: Siri stop!
Siri: There’s nothing to stop here.
@hotdogsladies Siri is painfully useless. During the pandemic I asked specifically the phrase “When is the new James Bond movie coming out?” It failed this of course. When I asked when “No Time To Die” was coming out it gave me the original release date, not the new updated COVID era release date.
I tried “When is the new James Bond movie coming out?” with Alexa and it nailed it.
@hotdogsladies My use of Siri is like the definition of insanity. I won’t quit despite her disappointing me daily. Sometimes the OG HomePods needs a gentle reboot so she can “connect to the internet” or so she can play the SAME DAMN NPR station I play every morning. But I still love her when she tells me “Good Morning” after I run the scene I programmed her to tell me that.
It is a co-dependent relationship except she’s not sentient. Okay, more like Stockholm Syndrome.
