One of the consequences of the whole “the party is the man, and the man is the party” bullshit is that Geert Wilders basically just doesn't have enough of a party to pull from to fill all 37 seats, or at least not without cannibalising the party's presence elsewhere, such as in the Dutch senate, and local and provincial governments.

It's kind of amazing how the 'duiders’, who are almost all white men, still want to excuse Wilders' newer voters, because theirs was a protest vote or something, even though they overwhelmingly came from the right, and basically only voted something else because Wilders was being locked out.
It also ignores the fact that, if they wanted to vote in protest, voting for a (different) far-right party when we've had right-wing governments for years isn't going to solve the actual problem.
They voted in protest because there was a chance that we might get a left-wing government otherwise. They voted fash trash on purpose.

@potatogunkelly Oh, there will surely be machinations that follow this, because this had thrown both the VVD internally as well as their role in the Wilders coalition talks into disarray, and the law is anything but perfect, with local councils sure to object in every way possible, but it actually will pass the Senate.
On Tuesday, IIRC.
Note that it had already passed the House, and that VVD also voted in favour there, originally, and that it wasn't until after the elections that Yeşilgöz tried to walk it back.
