Nuts. No Apple Vision Pro for this guy. 😭 😭 😭
Is there an optometrist out there who can tell me what stat I need to level up on my eyes to use the latest Apple product. Maybe I can find some buffs
@cabel I’m a bit confused about the whole prescription lens accessory thing in general… I feel like people with glasses have been using all kinds of VR products without issue for a long time now. What make’s Apple’s special? Poor design? Does it not fit over a pair of glasses?

@sclyde @cabel Pressure exerted by the headset straps on the frames can cause discomfort especially with prolonged use, and likely also causes unwanted light to leak into the headset.

They’re not new or unique to Apple. https://vroptician.com has inserts for lots of different headsets.

VR Optician - Prescription Lenses for VR/AR Headsets

More comfort, immersion, and visual quality in VR. Improve your VR experience by replacing your annoying glasses with optical inserts with lenses in your prescription.

@sclyde @cabel we have lenses for our other VR headset and it makes the experience a thousand times nicer. I can wear glasses but the fit is way better and more comfortable without them.
@nat @cabel Makes sense. It’s been a long time since I used a VR headset with glasses (prior to getting lasik). I remember it being doable with a different seal they provided, but I probably supressed the memories of it being uncomfortable 😄

@sclyde @cabel my experience with glasses inside a VR headset (in this case, PlayStation VR) is that it works, but the glasses scratch up the VR lens. Not something you’d want to do to an expensive Vision Pro!!! (Or vice versa, to your nice prescription glasses)

Personally, I wear contact lenses, so I assume I wouldn’t have to get prescription Vision Pro lenses… although I totally understand why that’s not an option for every glasses wearer.
