There is a new bill in the WA state leg after pro-Palestinian protesters shut down I-5. The "failure to disperse" is currently a misdemeanor, this bill would make it a Class C Felony.

Posting this for visibility - this bill was explicitly stated as a response to the I-5 shut down, which is a sign that it actually worked. Protesters *should* be able to cause public disturbances when their gov is complicit & actively participating in genocide.

Tagging @nullagent for visibility, idk who else can spread the word in WA lol.

Spread the word if you're in WA!

Drew MacEwan, the state House rep from the 35th district, sent out a newsletter with this excerpt:

"SB-6160 - Makes it a Class C felony if someone fails to disperse from a public roadway when instructed to do so. This is in response to the recent protest that shutdown I-5."

This is a Republican legislator who looked at the plight of Palestinians & decided it was more important to criminalize public disruptions than to stop the genocide of Palestinians.

@siren nothing is going to happen with that bill. it's just something that macewan filed for PR. a bill that has legs looks more like this for legislative actions. hearings have been scheduled and it has a lot more cosponsors. if there aren't democratic cosponsors on a bill, it's not moving.
