One of my favourite things about Mastodon is the niche creativity you get to see - when things aren’t determined by an algorithm, your creative projects don’t need to be understood or approved of by a majority in order for me to actually see them in my timeline. So I get lots of random fun art projects, knitting projects, unusual erotica, creative photography, nerds building cool things with wires. Love it. Cheers me right up, thanks Fedi ❤️
@girlonthenet my favorite are the nature photos, especially mountains and forests.
@girlonthenet There was a time when I was on social media that I tried slightly to curate a version of myself that I thought folks who follow me would like and respond to. Now, y’all just get whatever the fuck I feel like putting out there, and the worst case scenario is that you unfollow. 🤷🏻‍♂️😅
@girlonthenet the diversity is very cool. The lack of an engagement algorithm gives equal space to niche interests and doesn’t incentivise one type of post over another. It feels real.
@girlonthenet idk, still self-promoting and cannot be in other way, when someone will find algorithms how to make friendship relationships or "healthy" communications not like a follower-poster, then it will be better then real life
@girlonthenet but yep, here in mastadon the own charm exist
@girlonthenet can you recommend some accounts or hashtags? I would love to have some more of that in my timeline!
@noujoum I don’t keep a list but I do always try to boost cool things so feel free to scroll through my timeline!
@girlonthenet there should be a hashtag for this type of thing!
@girlonthenet @kate Totally agree. Down with the tyranny of algorithms!
