@kangaroo5383 And just imagine if we can learn to treat food, shelter, and other core cultural items the same way -- we might build a Library Economy!

Edit: Sorry, I know this is kind of a change of subject from your post, just couldn't help myself, I'm pretty excited about the possibility.

@dabreese00 i think that’s brilliant tbh, the term β€œmaking a living” always bothered me, i wonder what would happen to humanity and our culture as a whole if we freed ppl from having to work to survive. Some may continue to do the same job bc they love it, some may not, some may be opening some massively amazing new doors and arts.
@kangaroo5383 So much agree!! We might even abolish the very distinction between "productive" labor, i.e. labor that gets compensated with the survival-permission tokens that we call money, and types of care/humanistic/artistic/other endeavors that currently tend not to.
@dabreese00 funny enough, i’ve recently had a lovely convo with an awesome person about how i’d run β€œmy own country” and this is exactly the system i proposed :)
@kangaroo5383 You are not alone! Not sure how familiar you already are, but this exact goal is a central tenet of growing political-social tendencies like #solarpunk, anarchism, and a lot of the radical left in general. I also happen to think that freedom from daily fear of starvation and homelessness will be an outcome of successful police & prison abolition efforts. A key approach for me is a cyclical practice of social action and reflection. It may feel far off, but we needn't be intimidated!
