Eighteen years ago today, my first visit to Macworld San Francisco, just a couple months before I started my career in tech journalism, so this was the only time I ever attended on my own dime.

I think this was maybe the closest I ever got to Steve Jobs. Right after this picture, we made eye contact and he gave me a nod. (Also that's Andy Grove right to the left and in front of him—this was directly after the keynote where they announced the first shipping Intel Macs.)

@dmoren Does this mean we met 18 years ago?!
@jsnell Yep. Seems like just...18 years ago I was accosting you as a stranger.
@dmoren @jsnell All great partnerships come from random meetings. I just made that up.
@glennf @dmoren Oh it wasn't random! He sought me out to try to get into tech writing!!
@jsnell @dmoren Savvy! I met Dan when he and Scott interviewed for a pod…cast?
@glennf @jsnell That I have no memory of! I wonder if is still accessible anywhere.
@dmoren @jsnell I remember it distinctly, because you and Scott (you mostly doing the talking) interviewed me in the press room. The next year, I met you both again and initially couldn’t place you—then you reminded me about the podcast (or was it just an audio recording?) and I was mortified (you weren't rude about it)! I remembered you both but couldn't place you. Now, I remember you all the time and that other guy.
@glennf @dmoren @jsnell Just ask @imyke how many times I met him for the first time.
@jamesthomson @glennf @dmoren @jsnell @imyke is that on you or on him?
@Drwave @glennf @dmoren @jsnell @imyke Realistically, it's all on me.
