Not as if more information on the harm Putin's war is causing was needed, but this story on Russia clearcutting their boreal forests to fund their war is so damn sad.

Власти призвали не бояться вырубки сибирских лесов для Китая

11% of China’s timber comes from Russia.
When this war is over, Russia will be annexed by China economically. Xi will walk Putin on a leash. So many extractive resources.

@j2dumfounded
One potential silver lining is that I expect for China to end up annexing so much territory from Russia after Ukraine defeats Putin that Xi might find a politically viable route to abandon his One China policy towards Taiwan which could lead to more stability between the superpowers.

@GreenFire

As @DarthPutinKGB puts it, Putin remains a master strategist.

@GreenFire Can the Russian women who’s potential husbands have been killed in the war, connect with the many Chinese men who are known to be seeking wives? And prevent population collapse for both societies? #MakeLoveNotWar
@jonnycargo
I expect that's happening for sure. I also expect that because of Putin's military misadventure that soon much of Russian territory will become Chinese controlled too sadly.
