And because someone already asked (not here!) — yes, spike tyres for bicycles are perfectly legal in Germany. At least for normal e-bikes like mine that go up to 25 km/h. For S-Pedelecs that go up to 45 km/h there might be different rules, though.

Cars with spikes are limited to 50kmh in Germany.

Steven Willems@jwildeboer wondering, how convenient is to ride with those on normal roads, e.g. if temperatures surge for a few days, do you need to switch them out again immediately? Or can you just wait for a few days and see what the next days will bring?
SpieltagIt helps to a certain degree to adjust the tire pressure.On dry roads I ride with high tire pressure, and when it's really icy, it helps to lower the pressure as much as possible. A second wheelset that can be changed quickly is of course ideal.
@Spieltag @willemsst I have a slightly simpler solution: a second bicycle with normal tyres ;)
@willemsst @jwildeboer In my experience they are rather inconvenient in normal conditions: high rolling resistance, noisy, slippery on metal and cobblestone.
As Jan already pointed out, best to have a separate winter bike in locations with only a few days of frost/snow per year. I use an old, rather crappy bike of mine for that, so no big cost involved.

You'll be safe with spikes. Just make sure you'll get used to them with slightly slower speeds. Especially taking curves feels a little different (at least on my bike without a motor and a light frame).
