remember the 80s when we all got perms? That was weird.
@OldAndCranky I got one when I was 11 - and I have curly hair to begin with!
@OldAndCranky My mother gave me perms starting when I was maybe 6 years old. Curly hair was the thing for little girls. I still remember the ammonia smell of Toni home perms. 🤢
In the 80s I wanted to be fashionable, so got perms done professionally until a stylist carelessly burned my hair. Have been au naturel since then.
@Barbramon1 I remember in the 50s that my friend Shirley's mom gave her perms. It wasn't until we were older that I realized she had straight hair. It was like she turned into a whole different kid.
@OldAndCranky
I started getting them in my teens, & than later on in my 20's. My sister was in beauty school so she practiced on me. I gave up on them in my 30's.
@OldAndCranky I loved my perms. Wave not curl. But that was when I had hair. Now my toes now have more than my brain cover.
@OldAndCranky
I have straight hair, my mother tried to make me look like Shirly Temple, crinolins and perms and ruffled socks with black patent leather shoes. I was 5 and a tomboy, climbing trees and making mud pies. Her and I weren't the best combo.
@OldAndCranky I got one while in college to straighten my hair. That was so amazing. Wish I still had the photo.
@OldAndCranky sorry, I was distracted by everybody doing blow at parties then
