Why does Apple Music continue to suck at suggesting music I might actually want to listen to? Maybe I have enabled some setting to make it obtuse, but it has to know by now what I listen to and what I never even bother with, and yet every time I launch the app it's just tons of whatever is most popular right now. Am I alone in this experience?

A number of people here have reminded me that I'm still paying for Pandora, which I actually like(d). But I've mainly been listening to it through Sonos, which kind of limits you to stations you already created.

So I downloaded the Pandora client, and of course Little Snitch firewall went bonkers. And still is. Anyway, I go to the recommendations up top, and each one of them forces me to watch an ad before I can listen. OR! I can upgrade to Pandora Premium and not be bothered by that shit. But I am paying them, already.

Apparently, the issue is that I'm paying only for "Pandora Plus with ad-free stations." If you want anything more than that you have to upgrade. Just like all products have shrunk, the services I've come to love are really starting to piss me off.

@briankrebs With the change in interest rates, the enshittification of literally everything is bespoke, so there's probably never been a better time to hoist the 🏴‍☠️ flag and start curating your own media library -- if for no other reason than to avoid the hassle of figuring out who the current license holder is and whether or not you've paid for access to that content tier.
