A number of people here have reminded me that I'm still paying for Pandora, which I actually like(d). But I've mainly been listening to it through Sonos, which kind of limits you to stations you already created.
So I downloaded the Pandora client, and of course Little Snitch firewall went bonkers. And still is. Anyway, I go to the recommendations up top, and each one of them forces me to watch an ad before I can listen. OR! I can upgrade to Pandora Premium and not be bothered by that shit. But I am paying them, already.
Apparently, the issue is that I'm paying only for "Pandora Plus with ad-free stations." If you want anything more than that you have to upgrade. Just like all products have shrunk, the services I've come to love are really starting to piss me off.
@briankrebs Before long, the new default will be to play your local music collection off your hard drive or locally-hosted music server.
It kind of makes me feel vindicated that while buying my music in lossless DRM-free formats this whole time, I wasn't actually being stubborn, I was a visionary!
