One dedicated USB-C port on each side would be a big step up. You could call it a charging port as a USB-C is always needed to charge!
Would love to see this.

What's the benefit of dedicated USB-C? I think it's nice to choose which side to charge from without superfluous ports
@Tactician_mark @tinnedsoftware @frameworkcomputer I need more ports than four. Regularly. Docking Station is not an option, because I need those ports while mobile (IMO the entire point of having a laptop).
On my ThinkPad, I have
* 2 USB-C
* 2 USB-A
* HDMI
* Ethernet
I regularly max out all of these and on top of that I could _still_ use one or two more USB-A ports.

The suggestion of having extra USB-C ports seperate of the four bays would solve this, but having HDMI, Ethernet or USB-A would also solve my problem. Likewise with having six bays like on the 16 inch model.
I personally think having USB-C "fixed" makes sense because it's a very versatile port that will _at least_ be used for charging. Everyone will use at least one USB-C port. Uf course six bays would be even better.

I want to add: i don't think @tinnedsoftware meant to *limit* that extra port to charging. I'm pretty sure he meant this as a regular USB-C port.
Calling it "charging" is probably more of a comparison to other laptops than a functional limitation.
@claudius @Tactician_mark @frameworkcomputer
That is right, I would not limit them in functionality. I would rather like to see fully featured usb-c ports. Limitations are bad in this case as you than need to be carefull with what to connect where.
I meant it as a reason for having one fixed on either side.
