Harvard President Claudine Gay Resigns, Shortest Tenure in University History | News | The Harvard Crimson

Harvard President Claudine Gay resigned Tuesday afternoon, a stunning downfall for Harvard’s first Black president and former dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

@overholt oh crud. That really sucks. I was hoping she could stick it out but wow did that world gang up on her.
@overholt As a quantitative methodologist, I'm EXTREMELY concerned about this. I have to be honest and say I haven't looked at the details at all, but I also know there are only so many ways to say "I applied x technique using y software, following the guidelines given in z" without sounding like you ran it into an obscure language and then back into English via Google Translate.
@hyperzonk I mean, in a sense the good news for you is that the plagiarism angle was pretextual and pushed by people who could not care less about it.
@overholt Absolutely true. I'm just afraid it will provide a template to attack anyone in the field for other reasons. Indeed, I'm working right now with a project that's politically fraught (a support program for parents of trans youth) and I'm already thinking, how do we report our results without setting a trap for ourselves? I guess it's good that I'm now forewarned, though.
