@mckern @mckern yeah the poor writing is what i'd read about what made Jodie Whittaker's run bad and that it had nothing to do with her. which suuuuucks 😫 also i COMPLETELY FORGOT about capaldi (not because i disliked him as the doctor, just because it's been long enough since i watched). it was late in _his_ run that i dropped off. i might try to watch whittaker's run because i want to restart but i have difficulty jumping back into something later and potentially missing a bunch of context

@davidcelis @mckern Ryan and I will disagree on this but I strongly recommend a Whittaker rewatch, at least of particular episodes. It won't fix how shoddy the plotting, dialogue or direction is, but LOTS of Doctor Who is like this, and with the pressure of it being the current series off, rewatching some of the eps gives me the same joy as Season 17-era Tom Baker - it's nonsense but it's OUR nonsense.

I wish Whittaker got ONE decent story tho.

@davidcelis @mckern also I'd note that a lot of the current thread picks up on the themes of Whittaker's run and specifically some revelations around Gallifrey and the Doctor's origin, which RTD is running with, so I definitely recommend checking this stuff out even if half-watching to pick up the plot.

(happy to also suggest some critical episodes if you want to fast forward through the rest)
