This year’s batch of Stark Family fruitcake is GREAT.
After “taking a year off” I was really keen to make it again this year, and it turned out terrifically. Swapping walnuts out for pecans was a decadent—and correct—choice.
@Graham_LRR how many months did you curate this beauty?
@pharmacistjudge Only since after Desert Bus. I’ve “treated” it four times.

@Graham_LRR Looks fantastic. I love fruit cake and haven't had any homemade stuff since 2020.

Never understood this joke that fruitcake is awful, I have never had a fruitcake I didn't like.

@Graham_LRR It's been maybe 20 years since ive had fruit cake. Would love to try this but maybe without nuts.
@Foxmar It works without! I made one last year for my dad, who can’t have too many.
@Graham_LRR Both mom and I are not crazy about nuts.
@Graham_LRR does it get marzipaned and iced? Or does it soak up brandy? Or is it consumed wildly?
@dianshuo This was made weeks ago and got a weekly brandy soak. I’ve never made icing for it before, seems unnecessary.
@Graham_LRR ooh that looks excellent. Dense with fruits!
@Graham_LRR It does look quite lovely, and I approve of the nut swap to pecans. It's a tastier nut.
@Graham_LRR decadent is always the right choice (for food)! Happy holidays Graham!
@Graham_LRR I’m happy you’re keeping it going! Fruitcake is undeservedly maligned I always thought.
Tasting History did a great episode on them recently btw 😊
