Good evening, #JAWS users. Have a question. How does one configure #Windows11 such that the list of system tray icons is always fully expanded? Thanks in advance for any help. @freedomscientific #JAWSForWindows #JAWS2024 #Blind #VisuallyImpaired #LowVision #BlindMasto #BlindMastodon #BlindFedi @mastoblind @main

@noahcarver The option to indiscriminately show all tray icons at all times has been removed in Windows 11. Your options are to either:

1. Go to Settings -> Personalization -> Taskbar, expand the "Other System Tray Icons" section, and toggle on the icons you want to be persistently present. The downside of this is that you'll have to revisit this area of settings every time something new is added to your tray (e.g. because you installed a new app) and Windows decides to hide it.
2. Install an app to completely restore the old tray behaviour, such as ExplorerPatcher. The downside of this is that it is unsupported by Microsoft, and does stop working from time to time (e.g. after a big Windows update). Get it from: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases

@jscholes Lovely. Thanks, Microsoft. /S In all seriousness, thanks for the info.
@noahcarver @freedomscientific @mastoblind I hope you were encluded on the reply I did, but in short windows 11 doesn't have a show all anymore. you have to turn each icon on and off. in the post I sent, I gave the steps to get to the list of your system tray icons and showed how to turn them on and off. if you didn't see this post, just let me know, and I will send the list of steps again.
@jamminjerry @freedomscientific @mastoblind Yes, I was. Thank you much for all the info.
@noahcarver @freedomscientific @mastoblind you are very welcome. I hope the directions I gave helped you out.
@jamminjerry @freedomscientific @mastoblind They were excellent instructions. Thanks.
@noahcarver @freedomscientific @mastoblind like I said, I was actually doing the steps as I was writing them so that I made sure I counted, and wrote them correctly.
The short and sad answer is that you can’t.
@fastfinge Yep... sad but true. I have to essentially fool around with taskbar settings every time a new icon appears. UGH.
