lorddimwit is now @Many, many years ago I worked for a company that did low cost long distance. We could do lower cost because we routed calls over The Internet using VoIP, meaning we didn’t have to pay inter-LATA transit fees.
We didn’t support faxing though. At the time this was a serious issue.
