Huh, just had a store from which I ordered something a few years ago send me a promo email with subject line "Order #12353 is ready to ship."

That got me to open the email, semi-alarmed, since I had not in fact ordered anything from them. Haha, just kidding, the email said "But we are still waiting for yours. Take this gift from us!"

Instead, I unsubscribed and won't buy anything from them again. Assholes. Don't do that shit

@lmorchard No doubt the marketing department thinks it's pure genius to emulate spammers and scammers.

After all, gushed Harry MushForBrains, VP of Marketing, "they've been successfully pushing product since Dan Quayle invented the Internet so they must be doing something right!"

@markd @lmorchard The silly click-through or email opened rate is probably off the charts. It'll look really good in their powerpoint at their next marketing metrics meeting.

Who knows if they'll also review the unsubscribe rate from the same campaign.

@kharrison @lmorchard Forget the silly Unsubscribe rates, we'll make it up in engagement numbers!
