No surprise here:

Saudi Arabia talks a good game at climate conferences, while simultaneously developing & implementing their Oil-demand Sustainability Program (OSP).

More cars (ICE-only, please); supersonic flights; burn heavy (dirty) oil; and dozens more strategies.

Saudi Arabia’s Secret Plan To Keep Us Hooked On Oil | Climate Town

YouTube

@MarkBrigham Oil ( as a fuel ) has its place ( long-haul flights, monster ships, long-haul trains, etc ),
but *its place* must be *drastically* tinier a portion of our industry than it has been, or .. our civilization's functional Darwin Award, as our coastal ports get destroyed by the effects of our fundamentalist-ignorance, takes-out the *rest* of our civilization, through cascading breakage...

@Paragone And leaving oil in the ground, i.e. captured, is perhaps the most economical carbon capture and storage technology ever.

@MarkBrigham True, so long as you don't mind *ditching* the lives who live waaay out in the outback.

I'm not accepting doing that.

We're including even physically-remote lives.

There is no reason why city-transport need be internal-combustion-engine based.

Remove it, pronto.

There IS reason why getting supplies to Nunavut, or the middle of Australia, or Antarctica, or Sibir/Siberia, or the northern parts of Asia ( solar tends to work much better near the equator, not away from it, and wind-power tends to not work among mountains ) uses oil.

It doesn't need to be petrol-oil, it can be algae-based, or plant-based, but there *are* no charging-stations 500km from the nearest anything.

Don't butcher the few lives to cater to the simplistic ones who live in cities.

Some oil is required, even in engines.

( hell: long-term generator capability, for dealing-with 1/2-month-long blackouts, of which I can remember 3, in the last few decades, requires oil. )

Complete solutions need to not be oversimplified.

Oversimplification is a class-racism ( whatever suits the city people, fuck the others, because only the city people are valid people, right? ), and it has been going on far too long.

It is actually the wedge that drives the metro/rural political-split.

If cities were *less narcissistic*, then there'd be more rurals standing *with* cities, because cities would be standing-with more rural people...

but that won't happen in my lifetime.

The contempt that cities demonstrate for us rural people's lives .. isn't going anywhere.

Feel free to mute/block me, for holding that our rural lives need to be not "run over",
even though it complicates the *system* when our lives aren't blotted-out from consideration.

But circumstance-minorities *are* valid people, valid lives, in spite of what "politics", with its
"majority rules: minority is obliterated/ruled, because it isn't significant" ..
.. "law".
