But I thought they had to raise prices to combat revenue loss due to inflation and wage increases. Does this mean—wait, no, but maybe corporations are lying to us?

@Miriamm

Bigcorp lies. Avoid them.

Do you want fries with that?

@Miriamm I feel like the difference between inflation and covid profiteering is essentially zero from our perspective.
@Miriamm Look how successfully they combatted that revenue loss! 😳

@Miriamm
Corporate America is testing the limits of its pricing power

Across the economy, executives trying to maximize profits are effectively running tests to see what prices consumers will bear before they stop buying.

@Miriamm
It's like people enjoy their lips being ripped off....
not woke..
@Miriamm the real kick in the teeth is despite the increase in prices people still continue to purchase from McDonald's and every other place that has steadily increased their prices. We're all to blame because we can't collectively stop buying.

@the_q @Miriamm Fast-food places have figured out long ago that their main commodity is not food, it's convenience.

Every year they give us crappier food that costs more than it used to because they know people will go back if it means they don't have to make their own food or wait for it.

@Miriamm FIFTY NINE PERCENT INCREASE, holy shit. Where’s the outrage?
@Miriamm it does seem possible. Maybe.
@Miriamm @rysiek Maybe whenever they use the "higher costs and wages" excuse and an audit (or financial report) shows them false, all of those revenues should be considered fraud?

@Miriamm
I keep reading about all these giant corporations that pay little to no tax raising prices to gouge consumers and then reporting record profits...

Must be a coincidence that they all did this at once?

@Miriamm Don't eat at McDonald's and you'll live longer and save $$$. Pretty sure both those are facts.
@Miriamm corporations are my favorite people
@Miriamm
It's so easy! Don't go there for dinner! It's not rocket science 😜
@Miriamm lies are SOP now. From politicians to corporations, honesty has been dumped in favour of whatever propaganda they want us to sell us. It’s amoral and immoral.
@Miriamm McDonalds would never lie to you, there is no one more trustworthy than a clown.
@Miriamm
Oh great! I can't wait for those sweet millions to trickle down to everyone working hard enough. That's how it works, right? RIGHT?!
@Miriamm What? Corporations? Never!
@Miriamm I'm more concerned about people still wasting money on McDonalds after they increase the prices. Now they will increase them further and other companies will follow.

You know the saying, vote with your wallet.
@Miriamm No, no, they just got a little carried away counting their money. Don't we all, love? 🤷
@Miriamm competition is dead => capitalism is broken.
@Miriamm Hard to believe, I know. But they are lying to us.
[lol]
@Miriamm no doubt corporations are fleecing us but can we objectively compare 2020 to 2021 with regard to restaurant revenues?
