You see, that is why I alluded to this thread being reminiscent of #MiddleEast political history of last ~150 years in a nutshell ➡️ https://mastodon.social/@rameshgupta/111596911345981437

When people can’t countenance competition and conflate that with #existentialThreat, nothing good comes out of it.

There will ALWAYS be competition. We need to outcompete, or we need to go home 🙂

@rameshgupta Competition for market share? I’m here on Mastodon. I’d like to offer a different comparison, I think comparing to Mideast politics may be insightful but won’t bring us closer to a solution OR understanding, LOL. My comparison is the competition between health food and the associated culture vs. processed and convenience food and the mainstream food industry and associated culture. Basically, it’s very hard to compete with sugar on a level playing field.

This is what I had in mind as a #politicalAllegory involving #competitionAnxiety#fear of #competition.

Angry, thinking I was drowning their message with weak words like #fear instead of #threat, they identified no specific protocol weaknesses that #Threads would exploit, nor any specific #threat vectors, except nebulous fear that Threads will change our way of life.

They want to keep #Threads out, or “as far away as possible” from #Mastodon, and cannot countenance coexistence.

@rameshgupta To me the health food vs. Food industry comparison helps to predict where this will end up. There will always be Mastodons for the crunchy audience. There will always be X or Truth Social etc. or Fox cable news networks for those that prefer the frozen Hungry Man pizza. And there will always be embrace-and-extend strategies like Whole Foods that dress up as health food and perhaps some stuff there is healthy and they certainly work for a lot of people. That’s likely Threads.
