Long Starbird

I was a big fan of #Gauntlet in the arcade, but coming as late as 1987 meant this #ZXSpectrum port entirely passed me by at the time.

A shame, as it turns out it's pretty good. It would be an understatement to say that the Speccie's record with arcade ports was not exactly a litany of triumph, so this stands out as very playable and - crucially - RECOGNIZABLE analog of the original experience.

#TurnsOutImStillCrapAt it, though. "Blue Valkyrie... is about to die..."

@sourdust nice, hadn't seen this version! I ADORE Gauntlet but it can be a TOUGH game haha. The arcade one is rad. And even a couple of the later ones.

@jake4480 Our student union had to remove their Gauntlet machine, because a team of players (I wasn't one, but they were friends of mine) got so good at it that they could turn a profit on the health mechanic, and thus play all day for one coin each..! 😃
