It’s a really long fall from “Don’t Be Evil” to losing court cases due to destroying evidence like some failed crypto startup.
@carnage4life
It's only long if one assumes they truly understood what they were saying.

@FeralRobots @carnage4life

I joined Google many many years ago and at that time it wasn't just a shitty wannabe monopoly and espionage company.

It's hard to believe given what it's become but there was a time when Google as a whole was idealistic.

@carnage4life yeah, I quit using them after they decided “Don’t be evil” shouldn’t be their motto. A company that does that has told me all anyone needs to know about them.
@carnage4life Google exceptionalism died a long time ago, they should have dropped it when alphabet was created

@carnage4life I am no fan of any corporation, but auto deleting chat history feels like just a bad policy, not a massive conspiracy to destroy evidence.

Also, let's be fair - most crypto startups including FTX left a trail of evidence =p

@carnage4life @lisamelton At what point do people start to realize Sundar is leading the downfall of Google? When does he get held accountable?
@carnage4life I am bemused how while needing to appeal to society and one jury in particular to not look evil. They are out trying to do another land grab on web ads with (cough) "privacy sandbox", trashing ad blocking/privacy compatibility in Chrome, fucking with YouTube ad blockers, etc. Making fraudulent videos about AI capabilities, etc. They can't even just slow down a bit on evilness to help themselves. (It's OK I'll pick on Meta next :-))
@carnage4life oh god don't give google ideas they'll make a crypto startup otherwise too
