Does anyone know anything about "orthotic insoles"? Do these actually work? I wanna do my research before spending 5K. My feet really do hurt and they seemed to help my posture when I tried them on. 🥲

@agasramirez
All I can tell you about these is that if you've actually got plantar fasciitis you can spend an almost limitless amount of money on them and they may seem an improvement but they won't actually help. This I know for certain.

Instead, see a podiatrist and get custom insoles made for your feet and then learn to walk again. It's a big improvement.

@miggles oddly I've never actually considered going to a podiatrist... I'll check, my insurance should be able to cover this!

@agasramirez
I finally saw one after far too much suffering.

Maybe don't be a me.

@agasramirez

I had such orthopedic inlay soles a long time ago. In Germany they are a thing and covered by the medical insurance.
Worked for me well.

However, my first ideas to tackle posture issues would be:

* go barefoot as much as you can
* use minimalist/barefoot shoes
* do postural education. E.g. this yt channel is really great:

Postural issues? A simple change of habits is all that’s needed, are you being sassy? #posture
