Finally watched Kiki's delivery service and I can see why ppl saw this as a story about burn out. I can def relate to Kiki's discouragement.
I teared up at the end when, at Kiki's lowest point, she experiences the kindness of ppl (from the old lady to the ppl cheering her on)

The movie also made me think about the human behind the labor (esp creative)...

Currently I see more ppl being comfortable dehumanising creators just so they can selfishly consume "content" - like spitting out the bone once you are done with your chicken

Also reflecting about the climax of the movie:
Ppl were fascinated and celebrating the blimp's flight. In contrast, Kiki's services wasn't always easy or appreciated. When Kiki saved Tombo, it wasn't perfect either but ppl cheered. I think because, besides the fact she saved him, they recognised her humanity & spirit?

That she used every bit of her effort that was left to save Tombo even tho she struggled.

I guess that's the film's hopeful message: that ppl's heart can be softened by work/service they find meaningful because of the person/spirit behind it
