Digital Rights Groups Urge Meta to Stop Silencing Palestine

In the wake of the October 7 attack on Israel and the ensuing backlash on Palestine, Meta has engaged in unjustified content and account takedowns on its social media platforms. This has suppressed the voices of journalists, human rights defenders, and many others concerned or directly affected by the war.

While bombs were landing in Palestine, accounts documenting human rights violations were getting suspended. Tell Meta to stop silencing Palestinian voices.

@eff yes. I think the silencing over the years (as "antisemitic") of any discussion of the issue has stifled the mutual understanding that's needed for peace, and has resulted in this division among the left. So now, discussion is finally happening, but while thousands of innocent people are being killed.

Communication in general can be an antidote to war, and stifling important discussions prolongs war. And war tends to stifle communication. :(

They're talking about Meta suspending Hamas' news outlet after they used Facebook to broadcast the October 7th attack.

Follow the links for the examples they give, and they explain that the Quds Network had 10 million followers and were suspended, restricting free speech.

There are actual issues of Palestinians and those who advocate for Palestinian well-being who are targeted. Don't waste effort on people who can't tell the difference between those people, and the ones who committed October 7th.
