I don't see many posts here about the #Israel / #Hamas conflict, and that's probably wise. My views are informed by long-term history, but #Santayana would have no relevance to those on the ground in #Gaza. #History can be terribly impersonal, even as it's being made; to those directly involved, "history" is entirely the wrong word. I'll limit myself to this: as with Russia vs Ukraine, there is a clear aggressor, and in both situations their actions are best described as "bloody stupid".
