We blurred the gender of soccer players and had people rate their performances − with surprising results

A common criticism of women’s sports is that female players aren’t as entertaining or skilled as their male counterparts. Two researchers decided to put this notion to the test.

@TheConversationUS unfortunately that is just an inferior version of New Coke versus Classic Coke. In blind taste tests, New Coke was vastly superior and yet nobody bought it.

@TheConversationUS I'm Canadian, and the quality of the Women's National Team has been far, far beyond our Men's team. The Men's team have been ok, at best. However, every match is an "it would be fun if they could win" and I hope, whereas with the women's team I expect it, and they deliver.

They should be paid on performance, and the Women's team has been playing high quality ball.

@TheConversationUS I think all soccer is boring. My disdain has nothing to do with gender. The only part I like is when the Spanish-speaking announcer screams, "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!", and everyone's excited because it's been 3 hours since the last goal.
