Via CREW, Citizens for Ethics:

Congratulations to #HomeDepot, which has officially donated $1,000,000 to support the members of Congress who voted not to certify the results of the 2020 election.

Bankrolling the Sedition Caucus is a choice, and Home Depot has doubled down!

@GottaLaff

Building a fascist empire!

@GottaLaff I thought he sold his stake in Home Despot? Bummer, cause I love a big box lumber and hardware store undercutting mom & pop stores.😉
@GottaLaff #HomeDepot is an absolute last resort. I did a large home renovation project this summer, with zero tools or materials from them.
@johnlehet Good on ya! I try too.
@GottaLaff @johnlehet I just wish local hardware stores stayed open past 5pm and didn't get all surly if you show up at 4:50pm.
@mikemccaffrey @GottaLaff In my corner of Vermont/New Hampshire we are blessed with two competing lumberyard empires that overlap the Home Depot, and one really excellent hardware store. But, yes, 5PM is the end of it.

@GottaLaff

They have a lot of items we can get cheaper that we need when we do projects but for many years we have blacklisted them for this very reason.

I used to document the additional money we were spending by going somewhere else on Twitter back in the early 2010's. Ken Langone, the cofounder, spent heavily against Obama. He was always railing about Obama's clothes, like going into the Oval without a suit jacket, the tan suit, etc. He retired in 2006 but still a major HD stockholder.

@GottaLaff HD may be worse. But generally speaking, Companies are not willing to walk away from their lobbying efforts regardless of party or principle. My employer also reverted back to making those donations. I don’t give to the fund but I haven’t quit work for an otherwise good employer. The system sucks.
@GottaLaff HD is right next to Lowes here, so I can mentally flip them the bird while supporting a better option

@GottaLaff
#HomeDepot has a long history of supporting racism, fascism, and anti labor politicians. They’re a terrible company.

Do I have to start shopping at Home Depot again to #BoycottHomeDepot, or can we just call it read?

@GottaLaff Figures. We don't call them the Home Despot for nuthin'.
@darwinwoodka I always but always call them that too! lol

@GottaLaff

Home Depot already been on Team Treason!

"We are pausing to take time to carefully review and reevaluate each of the members who voted to object to the election results before considering further contributions to them." said the company’s senior director of corporate communications, on 1/27/2021

That pause, it turned out, lasted only a year [...]. Home Depot has given a total of $475,000 to 65 of the 147, making it the top donor to 2020 election deniers.

What Fortune 500 Companies Said After Jan. 6 vs. What They Did

A new ProPublica app tracks corporate contributions to election deniers. From GE to Boeing, here are some of the behemoths that proclaimed that they were suspending donations — then resumed giving to the very politicians they had sworn off.

@GottaLaff
I refer to the place as "Home Despots."
I was even more accurate then I knew.
@n1xnx Oh our family has called it that for decades
@GottaLaff my new england uncle has been calling it Home Despot for as long as I can remember and it was always just a funny gag until a few years ago
@dannotdaniel We've been calling it that for decades. For good reason.
@GottaLaff ok ok ok but also he wears FUNGLASSES

@GottaLaff

#menards is great 😃 🎼 you save big money, big - big money, when you shop #menards !

@GottaLaff

I spend a LOT of money at Home Depot personally and for my business. That stops today. It will be less convenient but from today on Lowe’s is getting my business.
