Elden Ring May Be Getting New Content Soon, Judging From Recent Behind-the-Scenes Updates - Lemmy

Hope they‘ll implement a bunch of image reconstruction techniques with the update. And maybe generally optimize the game better, but not gonna get my hopes up…
Apart from being hardcapped at 60 FPS, is Elden Ring even running badly? In my experience its performance is pretty reasonable.
you can get mods to make it run over 60. But the framrate plummets with ray tracing on for negligible visual difference since they only do it for shadows
Depending on the area it actually makes a massive difference. It also affects the ambient occlusion not just shadows. You don’t really notice how bad the default is until you see them directly compared. All the foliage in the game looks completely blown out normally.

It looks better, sure, but not -120FPS better. I find that to pretty much always be the case when it comes to ray tracing, the price in performance is just never worth the visual improvement.

I knew I should have blocked out the FPS. Ignore it. That’s not representative of normal performance. These screenshots were taken months ago on Linux with the git version of RADV I built myself that had just gotten raytracing functioning. There is zero optimization whatsoever. This was just what I had on hand since I’m not going to reinstall the whole game to retake some screenshots.

If you’re using Windows, have an Nvidia card, or are even just using more up-to-date RADV the performance is going to be completely different. And besides the game only runs at 60 maximum by default anyway.
