Do Not Obey

I am currently reading “Lost Cause”, and I really don’t know how @pluralistic is going to pull off a denouement that will defuse the seething rage I feel right now.

Why do we let billionaires poison the world? Why do we tolerate the owned politicians who enable them? Why do we respect a legal system which lacks any and all legitimacy? Why do we let a small minority of incomprehensibly dumb fucks dictate what is “right”?

Grr.

@maugen @pluralistic It’s a tale as old as time. You don’t have to be religious to find a polemic about rulers nestled in I Samuel 8:11 about kings being greedy dumb f—s. the rest of Samuel and Kings goes on to prove the point. Most humans will do and sacrifice a lot to avoid taking responsibility for themselves and others.

@maugen @pluralistic I think we are pliant to hierarchies.Kings and nobility, billionaires, influencers, bosses, presidents We would need to do away with most of it. Do away with all of that would do wonders.

Frederick the Great noted this when one of his general looking over the army about to go into battle said ‘we are so powerful’ and Frederick retorted’No they are, we are weak - they can destroy us instantly but instead will go and die for us’.
