This is a pretty climatic volume wit hardly any real estate if any at all. Rakira and Kotone manage to escape the volcano jail thanks to the red dragons that Fa befriended. It came after they sang that dragon song, you know Fa’s favorite song. Selenia eventually ended up at the house with Alice. While she didn’t trust Kotone and Rakira at first, she eventually join forces with them.
Apparently, we learn more about Selenia, Alice, their mother and Lastille day before Alice and Selenia escaped before Satona and her forces burned down the kingdom and killed everyone there.
I admit, I do feel sympathetic towards Selenia given what she went through. Besides losing her mother, she had her villiage burned down again when Alice decides to get a job at the royal capital and when Selenia was away with a centaur that it got burned down by the same curprit, which causes Selenia to grow resentment against the humans. She eventually went back to the castle to read her mother’s diary describing the final days and that family tree, which has a name crossed out, which is Satona.
So Satona is also a demi-human. She pickups Rufuria and make her an assistant. Yep, she is excited since she looks up to her, until Satona started acting evil. Not too surprising since she reveals herself as being the black dragon.
Of course, she went along, until she finds out that Rakira and Kotone is probably dead, but she doesn’t believe it.When Satona intends to use Fa to destroy the whole island, this is when Rufuria chooses Fa over Satona and she hate her now because of how evil.
I admit, Satona really became a villian full circle as eventually Kotone and her friends helped Selenia face off Satona while getting help with a certain flower that reacted with a stone that protects them from misfortune. However, Selenia probably didn’t make it in her failed attempt to defeat Satona. Also, as Satona unleashed the beam to detroy the island while everyone evacuates, she gave an evil laugh. Makes me wonder what went wrong that caused Satona to go down the path of conquest and trying to get rid of the demihumans, especially from Lastille’s kingdom.
It explains what happened to the red dragon and Fa in the anime and first two chapters. Selenia used a spell to control the dragon so she can try to defeat Satona, but kind of failed for obvious reasons.
We’ll find out how the last volume ends, eventually. Should probably reveal what happened between Lastille and Satona that caused Satona to go down a very dark path and a resolution of course.
